Jacquie Sipes, Jim Govekar, and Cindy Whitmer were working for a large technology
corporation when, in 2005, they joined forces and turned their vision for a different
kind of company into reality.
They had each supported the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the Defense
Systems Agency (DISA) for more than 20 years. Now, they began putting their unique
understanding of the DoD’s cybersecurity culture, priorities, and technology to work
Tapestry was soon working alongside DISA on major initiatives that changed how the
handles cyber defense. That included developing processes to help the DoD secure its
technology assets (used by millions of employees), providing cybersecurity training
military members worldwide, and initiating innovative cloud solutions.
In 2013, Eric Mellott and Angie Fogelsonger joined the executive team and began expanding
engineering capabilities beyond cybersecurity and brought a focused approach to strategic
growth. With just a handful of employees at the time, their experience and expertise
helped them win a series of competitively bid DoD contracts.
Tapestry’s business model, focused on strong leadership, quality employees, and customer
success, has fostered a level of growth that has garnered national recognition. Still,
Tapestry has managed that growth in a way that keeps the small-business environment
intact while offering world-class resources to employees and customers alike.
